LEARN MORESection 8 is a voucher program administered by various nonprofits through HUD. Unfortunately the waiting list has been frozen for years and getting new vouchers is usually only possible for people who are trying to escape institutionalization in nursing facilities. Under Section 8 tenants pay only 1/3 of their income for rent.
