Emotional Support Animals

title-line

The Fair Housing Amendments Act allows people with disabilities to have an Emotional Support Animal (ESA) when their healthcare provider indicates it is necessary for the person to have equal use and enjoyment of the housing. Being able to have an ESA in housing is not the same as having a service dog that can go anywhere in public. Before getting an ESA you need to ask your landlord for a reasonable accommodation and they might require a letter from your healthcare provider.
