About us:
“Independent Life Center is people with disabilities empowering others with disabilities to live independently.” We crossed paths with CCDC during the Clinton era health care reform effort. We joined forces to put on hearings about the need for health care reform. It was the biggest project CCDC had ever undertaken and actually got national attention for a brief period of time.
Focus Areas:
- Cross-disability peer counseling
- Training for everyday living
- Advocacy for self and others
- Information and referrals
- Assistance in the areas of transportation, housing and employment-related services
Accomplishments:
The Independent Life Center is proud to view CCDC as a partner in achieving its mission of empowering people with disabilities. We are recognized by city and county leaders for our collaboration in making our city and county accessible to people with all kinds of disabilities.
Upcoming Events/Meetings:
We have many groups and activities that we invite new members to participate in.
