Issues
Failure by newly designed and constructed sports and concert arena to provide wheelchair locations so as to provide people with physical disabilities a choice of admission prices and lines of sight comparable to those for members of the general public. CCDC and members negotiated with the owners and operators of the Pepsi Center prior to its opening about this issue. They promised to install wheelchair locations at the center court/center ice sections in the various price ranges. However, wheelchair locations in certain levels have been permanently covered over with platforms and fixed seating making these sections unavailable for patrons who use wheelchairs. Years of requesting that they remedy this problem have been unsuccessful.
Status
CCDC and members filed a complaint in federal court on November 25, 2002. The parties have reached an agreement and the Consent Decree was approved on January 22, 2004.
