VSA Colorado/Access Gallery is pleased to present our “Street2Studio” program culminating show. For the last 8 weeks teens in this program have worked with professional artists to refine their artistic skills through a variety of activities. The Street2Studio program is a Graffiti reduction project funded by the Denver Office of Cultural Affairs. After applying and interviewing to be in the program the teens are given a series of projects to complete. Professional artists from the community act as mentors and teachers for the teens.

The underlying goal is to harness the teens creativity in a more productive way, exposing them to professional artists, having to create a project for a client and providing structured instruction we feel we have met this goal. The teens have painted two small murals for a community garden here in Denver, have designed and pitched a concept for a commissioned mural for a local gallery and have created a canvas mural in the Access Gallery.

As a culminating event the teens will be doing a live mural for Grace Gallery and Neo Studios during the opening reception.
