Legal Representation
The CRPD can provide legal representation to parents with disabilities who have experienced discrimination on the basis of disability that affects their ability to parent, or become a parent. We also provide legal representation to parents who have disabilities and who are at risk of losing custody or parental rights due to their disabilities. The CRPD is unable to represent grandparents and other relatives in custody cases if the parents of the child(ren) have a disability.
We can only represent CCDC members. If you are not yet a CCDC member, please visit our membership page. CCDC membership is free for people with disabilities, their family members and allies.
The CRPD does not charge fees for low-income parents, but may charge fees on a sliding scale basis for parents who are not low-income.
CCDC is a Colorado based organization, and as such, can only represent parents whose cases are in Colorado. If you live in another state, we might be able to provide limited technical assistanc and referral services.
If you are a parent with a disability and believe you need legal representation, or if you are an attorney or other professional and have a client who needs representation, please contact Carrie Ann Lucas, the CRPD's attorney.
Technical Assistance
The CRPD can offer technical assistance including referrals, research assistance, and case consultation on issues of disability rights and child custody to attorneys, social workers, guardian ad litems, court appointed special advocates, and other professionals working with disabled parents.
If you would like assistance, please please contact Carrie Ann Lucas, the CRPD's attorney.
Training and Education
