Issues

Condominium complex scheduled one week of elevator maintenance, leaving only the stairs for residents to use come and go from their homes.  During the scheduled elevator maintenance, residents who use wheelchairs were forced to either remain homebound, personally pay to stay in a wheelchair-accessible motel, or personally pay to rent the complex’s guest suite.

Status

The parties were able to reach settlement in September, 2011.  The terms of the settlement are confidential.  If you’d like more information about this case, contact the Legal Program.
