When you see these numbers they make sense for many of our programs

100%FPL means the actual poverty level

200% means you multiply the number by 2, etc.

Remember that HCBS is 300% SSI not 300% poverty!!

2012 HHS Poverty Guidelines

The following figures are the 2012 HHS poverty guidelines that are scheduled to be published in the Federal Register on January 26, 2012. (Additional information will be posted after the guidelines are published.)

2012 Poverty Guidelines for the 48 Contiguous States and the District of Columbia

Persons in family/household
Poverty guideline

1 person in household $11,170

2 in household $15,130

3 in household  $19,090

4 in household $23,050

5 in household $27,010

6 in household $30,970

7 in household $34,930

8 in household $38,890

For families/households with more than 8 persons add $3,960 for each additional person.

REMEMBER that household involves people involved in specific legal relationships, not necessarily every person who lives in a home or apartment.  There can be two or more households in the same home depending on the circumstances.

You can see that there is a LOT going on and we need you involved—this does not include the many activities that are going on at a local level so please watch for those items also.

Yours in the struggle,
Julie Reiskin
Executive Director
